Aussie Day Weekend

Hello guys, how have we been?

Having had three days on end without phone and internet, made me sulk and badger Telstra endlessly till they sent two technicians to fix the problem, which they did and finally put my smile back to my face.  Well, I've been quite away for sometime, having had spent the Australia day weekend in Canberra with my children and husband.

There are just so many things happening these days.  It is quite a busy time to spend the rest of the summer.  My boy Simon has just gone back to school and yaay, he's in Year three now, a level older, hoping a year wiser and less naughty. Second, I just booked myself to join the Muddi Boutique Markets for the Junee Rhythm and Rail Markets on March 2nd and another one for Leeton.  It's going to be quite busy sewing for me again.  First things first , what do they say huh.  I have even yet to tackle my driving, by the way, at my age, I have finally decided I needed that driver's license and will be in three weeks time.  I just hope I will wing it and go.  If only that is how quick and easy everything goes.  Hmmmm...

I'd like to share some of the photos we have taken during the holiday weekend and well somehow give you a glimpse of the magnificent city that is Canberra.  What did I like about Canberra? Well, you will get the best of two worlds in one place.  You'd find a busy city and in the next five to ten minute drive, you'd discover the wonder of quiet reprieve, bushlands, hills, trees and relaxing gardens.

This was at the National Botanical Garden, Canberra.  It drizzled that day, so we did not stay for long but you have to love the walk, you'd find endless walkways, benches and thousands of different plants and trees.

Our doting little brother pushing her sister, giving mom and dad a break.
Pack of lions behind, yes, there were at least six enormous lions in the National Zoo.  My Simon found it fun as the zookeeper had a little bit of play and games with the lions, and some talk about where they came from.
This was the day before heading back home, we went up for a walk up the hill to take in some more wonderful views.

At the Telsta tower, we did not walk up, thank God we did not.  There was a lift, happy to find out there was.  It's like we went up to 800 meters.  With knees shaking, the view was breathtaking.  It's basically a 360 degrees way to see Canberra from up above.  The clouds though were not smiling that day, quite windy too, a relief from the constant heat for the past few days, though.
Funny because you will find a cafe, and a mailbox up at the Telstra tower, which my son found amusing.
At the botanical gardens, you'll find this candle like plants, which is called the banksia.

These two could not get enough of the views, even Savannah reached up the wide windows to have a good look.
I love the feel of country in a city.

At the park, on Australia day saturday, Simon loved the enormous slide away!
And of course, Savannah had the best day on Saturday, she was able to see and watch Peppa Pig Live at the Park.
Here are more of the shots I took of Canberra.

I hope you guys have a lovely time the rest of the week.
